The Authorization of Prior Residence for employment and research purposes is granted by the General Coordination of Work-Related Immigration to the interested party/immigrant who is abroad and is requested, unless for any exceptions, by the Brazilian consular authorities for the effect of granting temporary visas to foreigners who wish to enter Brazil for work purposes. So, after their arrival in the country, the foreigner shall proceed to the Federal Police for registration.

NORMATIVE RESOLUTION No. 03, OF DECEMBER 01, 2017

Provides for the granting of residence authorization for work purposes without employment relationship in Brazil, for the provision of technical assistance services.

NORMATIVE RESOLUTION No. 04, OF DECEMBER 01, 2017

Provides for the granting of residence authorization for work purposes without employment relationship in Brazil, for technology transfer.

NORMATIVE RESOLUTION No. 20, OF DECEMBER 12, 2017 - this authorization must be required by the foreigner at the Brazilian Consulate closest to his residence, before coming to Brazil. 

Provides for the granting of temporary visa and residence authorization for academic research, teaching, or extension to foreign scientist, researcher, professor, and professional who intends to come to the Country, with a period of stay exceeding ninety (90) days.
